CNC Machine Installation for New Customer Fichtl Holz.Hand.Werk.

Compass Software service technician Christian Axtmann installed a new Biesse Rover A 1556 with 5 axes at our new customer Fichtl from Germany.

The owner, Uwe Fichtl, has already been using the machine since 2020 and previously produced stairs the traditional way with a standard 2D software. However, more and more stair orders started coming in and the manual programming of the machine became too tedious and time consuming. Uwe Fichtl decided it was time for a specialized stair software and so he purchased the CAD/CAM end-to-end solution from Compass Software.

The customer received online CAD training a few weeks ago. The machine installation on-site followed in mid-October. The stair shop is now able to manufacture stringers, posts, treads, risers, and handrailing on the machine. Additionally, our technician set up railing combinations (stringer-handrailing) and the processing of “handrailing upright”. Soon, the customer also wants to implement the processing of curved wreaths. The Compass Software CNC solution makes the processing of sometimes very complex stairs significantly more efficient, and the machine operator does not have to waste valuable time with the programming of the machine.

Next to stairs, the carpentry shop also produces furniture and doors, lays flooring, assembles doors, and has its own kitchen studio.

“We put a lot of value on quality and using locally sourced materials: from floor to ceiling, from the individual piece of furniture to the entire kitchen, every piece of wood we use comes from this region. Our partners and suppliers are local and close by,” says Uwe Fichtl. We love this philosophy, and we are looking forward to seeing the new stair projects the woodshop will come up with.
